Get to Know About Tajikistan
Tajikistan is a country in Central Asia surrounded by Uzbekistan on the west, Afghanistan on the north, and China on the east. This sets its position right at the heart of Central Asia. It is a highly mountainous state with nearly 90% of the total landmass comprising of mountains, and about 50% being at an elevation of more than 10,000 feet from the seal level.
The country has a population of about 7 million people, and due to its tough financial position, it is less appealing for foreign investors, slowing down the prospects of doing business Tajikistan. Again, over 70% of the country’s population lives in rural areas. In those places, traditional farming and keeping of animals is mainly done for sustenance purposes and not as a business. The unemployment rate, however, may be only 2.5%, a good chunk of the population work as labor migrants in Russia and some of the former Soviet states.
The country’s geography is interesting in many ways. Other than being predominantly mountainous, Tajikistan has nearly 900 rivers flowing into it. Additionally, it is also the home to the world’s longest glacier away from the polar region. Given that it is located in a seismically active zone, the country is highly susceptible to earthquakes, and thousands of lives have been lost in the past due to deadly quakes. It may not have lots of trading opportunities, but its landscapes and culture have made it a hot destination, especially for adventurers and mountaineers.
